One In A Million

Miami-based Danny Daze and Australia’s Young Edits have teamed up this month and created a rather special bootleg of the late Aaliyah’s One In A Million.
Perhaps this will spark an ongoing musical relationship between the two and based on the final result, it could be incredibly fruitful.
Danny Daze & Young Edits – One In A Million (Aaliyah bootleg)
Aaliyah’s death is still to this day such a huge loss for the music industry on a whole and you can only imagine how huge of a star she would have been if she were still alive and making music.
Mercury Rising

When we first posted about Mercury in late December on their stunning Marvin Gaye edit it shot straight to number one on the Hype Machine charts and upon further inspection, you can see exactly why.
So far it’s predominantly been remixes and edits that have got these two Swiss producers a name for themselves and House music is the favourable genre though there’s soul and classic disco hints in some of the beats, including this Jamiroquai one.

The two remixes below are absolute gems.

These guys get me genuinely excited to put a pair of headphones on.

Pushing Hands (Palms Remix)

Pushing Hands released ‘He’s Still Here’ in the early summer of last year and it’s a track that we instantly adored and have returned to at least once a month.
Now it’s been relatively quiet for the guys when it comes to new music but word is they’ve been hard in the studio putting together material for a release in the first quarter but they did release a new remix by Palms to keep our appetites at bay for a short while.
It’s an slow electronic head massage and free to download on the band’s bandcamp page.

Adele (Lektro Remix)

It’s likely that worldwide superstar songstress Adele never has to make another album from a financial point-of-view but we hope she becomes a modern day Aretha Franklin and an act we hear new material from for decades to come.
If she does decide the stop however, ‘new’ material will never stop when it comes to edits, reworks and remixes.
Chicago’s Lektro is a fine example.

Alex Winston (Keadz Remix)

French electronic production duo Elie and Theo aka Keadz just dropped their remix of Alex Winston’s Sister Wife. It’s a chilled one with cosmic hints and some Daft notes in, top it with Alex’s cute vocals and the waves swashing toward the end and you’re onto a winner.

This also reminded us to the Labyrinth Ear remix we posted a good while back and trawling through our MP3s and found it. Well worth a listen – probably my favourite Winston edit to date.

Bon Iver (El_Txef_A edit)

Big thanks to our friend Hannes Fischer for bringing this to our attention last night!
Spanish producer conveniently named ‘El_Txef_A’ has made a beautifully subtle but wholly substantial edit of one of the singles from Bon Iver’s self-titled sophomore release and we think you’ll really like. We do.
