SBTRKT (The Neon Lights Remix)

The Neon Lights have a penchant for an incredible tidy remixes and edits and their remix of The xx topped our ‘Best Remixes of 2010′ poll back in 2010.
They’re back now with a sumptous bootleg remix of SBTRKT and Sampha’s Hold On which word on the grapevine says SBTRKT himself is dropping on his DJ sets.
Huge.
Tropical Biggie

Bet you’ve never heard the late Notorious in the way that San Franciscan producer Viceroy wants you to, well we haven’t, and it’s so different that we instantly fell in love with it.
Think the caribbean, think tropicana, think palm trees and white sandy beaches and so on, which may be where the larger than life rap supremo would have chosen to have spent his maturer years if we were still around today.

Stateless (Royce Wood Junior Remix)
Back in 2008, we heard a track we were unable to get out of our heads for weeks. It was a beautiful heart wrenching number by a band called Stateless and it was called ‘Bloodstream’. It was subsequently featured in the Vampire Diaries and is much better known now, but it still manages to send chills down our spine.
So when we recently found this remix from Brighton’s Royce Wood Junior it made us go weak at the knees all over again. This is a really different take on the heartbreaking original.

Ben Howard (Little Dragon Remix)

Radio 1′s Zane Lowe had the exclusive scoop on Little Dragon’s remix of Ben Howard.
There are a few remixes of the lovely folk man out there, most of which misconstrue the artists feel and atmosphere, but this Little Dragon one is actually lovely.
If you’re heading any of the dates of Ben’s 2012 tour, we’re hugely jealous.
Todd Terje Returns

There’s no doubt Todd Terje’s summer was abruptly (but expectedly) hijacked by every club promoter on the land when ‘Ragysh’ became the staple diet for lovers of house music around the globe and whilst I’ve heard material from the new EP at a couple of parties in the past couple of months, it’s only now that it’s being officially released.
It’s definitely more chilled than the summer hit, but the fun, bold and lively tempo still comes through beautifully when things get going and it’s definitely the beginning of what’s going to be another big year for the artist.
You can hear the whole EP, titled ‘It’s The Arps’, on Terje’s SoundCloud, and here’s Inspector Norse.
He also put out his latest remix, a lovely 11 minute reworking of a track from Bombay Bicycle Club’s latest album which plays on the vocals in all sorts of sumptuous ways.
Artful (DYM Remix)

Damn You Mongolions or DYM submitted his remix of Artful’s ‘Could Just Be The Bassline’ through the worldwide competition through SoundCloud and it’s great to hear the producer is back in the studio. The original was strong in itself but DYM’s bass addiction lifted it significantly.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, DYM said “…this was one of my favourite songs of 2011 and Mark Hill/Artful Dodger is a bit of a hero of mine so when a remix comp was announced I jumped at the chance to get my hands on Kal Lavelle’s gorgeous vocals! Let me know what you think, enjoy!”
