Keep Calm and Carry On
There’s a welcomed silence on the streets of the UK toward the end of this week as the rioters settle down with their freshly stolen video games, brand new mobile phones and hoards of scavenged basmati rice (?!).

The 2 Bears – Bear Hug (Maxxi Soundsystem Remix)
Big bass remix from Maxxi which adds a wicked level to an already spanking 2 Bears tune.
Maricopa – Mane
This one soars like an eagle. Progresses beautifully and enhanced our chill-out evening last night.
Midnight Missy – Midas Dutch (Jay.Soul Blend)
Jay.Soul’s blend of Midas Touch and Pass That Dutch features on our August mix for a very good reason.
Daft Punk – Something About Us (Laberge Edit)
Daft Punk have been mashed, edited, remixed and re-rendered. The more the merrier as long as the quality is as high as Laberge’s.

So, as the title to this post reads, this is Courts.
With Courts we’ve got 4 close mates making some truly unique, bluesy and delicious music from their base in Basildon, Essex. The music has character and a rawness to it that no big budget studio or major record label can buy and it’s evident throughout their new demo tracks.
We can hear their large range of musical influences ranging from 70′s funk to witty, modern day hip-hop yet there’s nothing cliché about any of it.

Rhythm Of The Month [Archive]

Loads and loads of mashups going around in the last 30 days and RJD2 has been the rhythm of choice for many-a-masher and rightly so – he’s a legend.
Our post featuring S-Tone’s mashup of RJD2′s Ghostwriter and Lil Wayne’s Stuntin’ Like My Daddy is still hot in terms of traffic and before it dies down we’ve just got our hands on another one.
This one, by Tone-E (are they related?), swaps Lil Wayne for Jurassic 5 and it does it extremely well or is it the RJD2 song that goes well with everything?
Regardless, great mashup.

Blackmail
It’s a timely track title for the current sporting/political news covering almost every newspaper in the UK this week. We shan’t go into any details but we have heard one thing….
Apparently Imogen Thomas is looking to start a music career. She’s been doing Giggs over all Manchester for months now.
Anyway (!) onto Silver Medallion who just put out their latest track alongside Boys Noize collaborator Dame Fifty5. The song debuts a new sound for Silver Medallion and will be featured on their upcoming upcoming indie rock mixtape.
We like it.

Fat Freddy’s Drop (The Electric Remix)
After a brief stint supporting FFD, The Electric (DJ Vadim, Pugs Atomz, Sabira Jade) have added their twist to one of the standout songs from Based On A True Story.
Pugs’ bars and Sabira’s vocals over Flashback, combined with Vadim’s water-tight production does add a nice new dimension to a classic.

We’ve a whopping three Wolf Gang tracks to give away this morning, comprising of two remixes and one cover. How generous.

Pigeonholing an artist as diverse as Ghostpoet is tricky. Above all, he’s a lyricist and a very good one at that.
Leaving behind the stereotypes that have plagued the rap game for decades, the UK artist celebrated for his dark underground electronic crossover has carved out a unique place for himself in the musical universe.
So, does he just sit behind a MacBook and a mic when he takes his show on the road? Absolutely not.
