Mystro’s UK Rap Up 2011

Mystro released his annual report last night, something that since 2009, has become a much enjoyed tradition for his fans and beyond.
Focusing on current affairs, big news stories, the music industry and more, alongside news reporter style visuals – it’s laugh out loud vibe and the guy needs a massive pat on the back for delivering again.
Big up!

Brand New Jay-Z

Big congratulations to Beyonce and Jay-Z on their newborn baby. As parents it’s going to spark an entirely new wave of creativity and music and we just can’t wait to hear it.
Fortunately Jay-Z hasn’t wasted any time and there’s a full track dedicated to his child (and wife) called Glory…

I Want You To Know

Loui the ZU, fomerly knows as just ZU, is an MC, singer and songwriter who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and is only the tender age of 17. He grabbed our attention with his unique blend of low-fi indie melodies and lyrical hip hop.
This track ‘I Want You To Know’, featuring the vocal talents of Leroy Clampitt, is as blissed out as it gets and is the B-Side to his second EP which is due for release this year.

Brand New Laberge (and Nikademus)

Previous POW! producer Laberge’s new track hit the internet a few hours ago and his disco, bass-driven beats never fail to get me in the mood for a knees up.
Laberge – No Pressue
The new track comes as the Canadian’s profile begins to build strong bases from around the world which ultimately led to the new collaborative project with fellow Vancouverite Nikademus whose hip-hop/breakbeat insprired project is tantalising for our ears.

Here We Go Again

Mahogany have loved Rodney ‘Roots Manuva’ Smith since back in the days of his breakthrough album Brand New Second Hand. There isn’t a more unique voice in UK hip hop. His flow is intelligent and deep and a real pleasure to listen to. So after a fairly turbulent few years personally, its been great to hear the man back on form on his recently released album 4everrevolution.
The latest release from that is ‘Here We Go Again’ featuring vocals from Sindecut’s Spikey Tee. Its a grimey mix of dubstep sounds and classic gritty UK hip hop production. The soulful chorus from Spikey and the storyteller’s flow from Roots pull all the elements together.
