I was so committed to the last Miike Snow album that, on paper, we were civil partners and you can see the MP3 files are visibly exhausted given how many times they’ve been played since 2009.

Now we all know there’s a new album coming in March and as we get closer and closer to the date, the Snow camp are drip-feeding us some of the material, including today’s collaborative track with Lyyke Li and last week’s track Padding Out.

It’s so good to have them back!

Highly, highly anticipated new music from Swedish/American outfit Miike Snow dropped today and it’s got me salivating like I’m in a Michelin-starred restaurant and it’s clear they’ll once again dominate online, print and the stage in 2012!

The pacey piano-led track titled ‘Devil’s Work’, recorded at their studio in Stockholm continues in their style of original modern pop music, and it’s actually really comforting to hear Andrew Wyatt’s vocals again after their much deserved break.

It’s also obvious the guys are preparing to go into over-drive next year stating online that “the album is complete. The videos are being shot. The artwork is being finished. The tour dates are being planned” and given the last success, no doubt the record label is prepared to chuck a good portion of cash their way so they can do just that.

Miike Snow – Devil’s Work

Film-maker and previous collaborator Andreas Nilson released the first in a series of videos for the group.
If you swirled the quirky vocals of Kate Bush and the rockier sound of Gwen Stefani you might end up with something that sounds a little like South London’s YADi. Pointless vocal comparisons aside – the 23-year-old South Londoner has some very strong pop songs in her arsenal and has just released her first track for download called ‘Sahara Heart’.

Never before has an X Factor contestent featured here on Mahogany but Rebecca Ferguson has a rightful place on this blog because in my opinion, she has voice unlike many others and given the right course of action, she could become the one truly reputable popstar to spawn from the saturated mess that is television music competitions.

To track back slightly for people who might not have watched the last season, the only reason I sat through the likes of Cher Lloyd and other similar deadbeats was to hear Rebecca’s performance and despite the judges comments, her shy nature was refreshing amongst the strangely over-confident bunch of moany emotional teenagers.

Now she’s in the midst of launching her hugely exciting career which begins online with a series of fantastic live studio tracks and below are the first the emerge.

Rebecca Ferguson – Fairytale

Rebecca Ferguson – Nothing’s Real But Love

She has so much potential for 2012 and my fingers and toes are crossed in the hope that her major record label don’t completely fuck it up with their strategy and she shines through for her honest, talent and passion for music. Her debut album Heaven drops in early December!

My sister sent me a link to this guy and I’m going to give her a big hug next time I see her!

According to his Facebook, Allen Stone hails from the small town Chewelah, Washington which has a population of just over 2500 and these are the kinds of places that can often breed great musicians as in all honesty, there’s often not a lot going on!

Now I’ve got no idea if he actually spent his entire youth there but whatever happened along the way, he has a fantastically modern soulful voice and whilst there are other somewhat similar voices out there, it may be the fact that he doesn’t look as generic as many of the artists/bands which in my interpretation, sets him apart.

There’s a limited amount of material from Allen online but I lot more to come so keep your eyes peeled and ears pricked – I think 2012 could be the year of the Stone!

New Look’s latest single maintains the Canadian duo’s rep for pretty ‘Future Pop’ electronics.

Nap On The Bow shows off their skill in writing great pop music and Sarah Ruba’s voice sounds amazing. The video was produced using the camera from an XBox Kinect by directors Tim and Joe from Colonel Blimp – which has given it a 3D digital underwater feel. Tim and Joe said of the video “the crude imagery you get from the camera led our approach – the CG all needed to a similar lo-fi yet ethereal and beautiful feel”.

These are pretty perfect visuals for the band – check it out below.
