In The Mix(tape) – Bag Raiders

Posted on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in In The Mix(tape) ©

Australian pair Bag Raiders have made a 2012 vow to commit to monthly mixes and if January’s is anything to go by, we’re incredibly excited.

This mix is definitely a tour de force of some serious bangers to emerge in the past couple of months and it begins with a massively sexy number from Nils Frahm and from there it just grows and grows into a monster of a mix including stuff from Hot Toddy, Maxeo Plex, Todd Terje and Homework.

The guys have never shied away from big and bold mixes and I just can’t wait to start the day on this one tomorrow!

Posted on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in In The Mix(tape) ©, Rap/Hip-Hop

The recent passing of Etta James got us thinking about all the other musical legends we have lost over the years. One of the greatest losses to Hip Hop was the death in 2006 of James Yancey aka J Dilla. Then that thought train reminded us of this excellent mix of Dilla productions and remixes pulled together by TomE. Featuring joints by The Roots, The Pharcyde, and Faith Evans plus lots of tracks from the man himself, its a fitting tribute to one of the most talented producers Hip Hop ever called its own. Turn it up and reminisce…
