Ashes to Ashes
You might have noticed, in recent times, that Dubstep hasn’t featured so prominently on this blog.
There are an influx of people who simply try to make the dirtiest beat possible and stitched it together with some mindless wobbles and then label the tracks as Dubstep. Because of this, I can only really handle it in small doses.
Today, Canadian producer Ashes & Dialect filled the little space I do have for it very well.
*screwface*

Follow The Leader
This is a debut for Paper Crows and the first time we’ve featured George Lenton since June and they’re arrived together in glorious form.
Emma Panas and Duncan McDougall aka Paper Crows are preparing for the release of their double A side which will feature Fingertips and Follow The Leader.
Lenton was commissioned the latter and boy, it’s a treat.

Ellie Goulding (Bassnectar Remix)

It’s barely been a week since we posted that incredibly sexy Ellie Goulding x Daft Punk mashup and we’ve got a remix of Lights by the one and only Bassnectar.
There are so many established producers who have sunk their teeth into Goulding, many of which have created absolute blinders, including this one.
This is the perfect tune to end a big mix. 6am stuff.

Do It Like A Dude (Remixed)
Here are a couple of interesting unofficial remixes of Jessie J.
To be honest, I wasn’t that keen on the Jessie J stuff until watching her performance on Jools Holland which completely blew me away – since then I’ve looked at her music in a different light and wish the girl all the best in the world.
8BarZ have whisked up a good little remix here – not too dissimilar to the original but it’s got essence of ‘filth’ at parts which is what you need on a Friday, right!?

Secondly is a pair of fairly unknown producers who have taken the song to a entirely different place…

The Recluse

Ah remixes and remixes that are free!
Nero are one of the most in-demand producers to be booked for a single remix and god knows how much they charge for their services.
Luckily we don’t have to pay a dime – we’ll leave that to the record labels.
Anyway – the Plan B album is solid gold without any underground influences but a Nero remix is a lovely cherry on top, as was the Breakage remix of Prayin’?

Too Heavy To Stand

DeLooze dropped the remix package from their latest single our way not long ago so we had a good listen through all of them and filtered what we considered to be the strongest of the pack.
Both remixes take the original to an entirely different place which is what they’re meant to do so job well done.
DeLooze – Too Heavy To Stand Up (Dark Sky Remix) – download
Turning the clocks back a bit – Dark Sky flips this into an old school garage tune whilst introducing some core dubstep rhythms at the same time. Big.

DeLooze – Too Heavy To Stand Up (Ben Mono Dub Remix) – download
Ben Mono’s effort begins with a back-to-basics beat and formulates into a full scale dub house anthem.

Afterglow (Akira Kiteshi Remix)
This is without doubt one of the biggest remixes we’ve heard in a very, very long time.
Phaeleh’s smooth and laid back original is transformed into a monster of a beat. The soft female vocals are kept throughout which maintains it’s semi-commercial presence and opens it’s doors to more popular times on mainstream radio – which in turn is great for producer Akira Kiteshi.
Released on Chemical Records later this month – you can purchase this beast via the link below.
