POW! // Synkro

Manchester’s Synkro has been developing a unique style of emotional bass driven electronic music for the last few years. His tracks have been shown love from lots of big name producers like dBridge, Instra:mental and – champion of all things bass music – Mary Anne Hobbs. Like Burial before him, Synkro’s tracks use chopped ‘n’ screwed R&B vocals to create haunting ambient melodies.

All kinds of beats come through in Synkro’s tracks, including jungle, garage, 2-step and dubstep, a mixture of influences that turn The xx’s ‘Night Time’ into something altogether heartbreaking.

As a producer Synkro is not defined by one tempo, but his tracks are rarely more moving than when he slows them right down. Tracks like the beautiful ‘Memory’ are bliss.

Florence + The Machine (Remixed)

As the new Florence album draws closer to it’s release, US producer Revolvr was inspired to wrap his own sound round Mark Knights impressive original remix.
Here’s what he had to say about it – “I heard Mark Knight’s remix of this on a plane back from a trip and got inspired to do a chill dubstep translation of it. A bit of a different approach than my other stuff, hope you enjoy it!”

Submotion Orchestra

Dubstep hasn’t just spread all over the UK, it’s now global yet in many ways the evolution of the genre is happening at it’s birthplace.
Submotion Orchestra consist of 7 incredibly talented individuals from Leeds (UK) and led by vocalist Ruby, they incorporate deep bass-driven grooves and dense textures in their progressive live dubstep sound and having seen them play live at Secret Garden Party, I’m an avid fan.
They’re single, Always, is previewed below alongside some hype remixes from the likes of LAXX and Synkro. These kinds of tasters are massively important to get the juices flowing, especially considering they’re preparing to embark on a full UK tour (details here).

Crave You (Adventure Club Dubstep Mix)
This just blew my face off ever so slightly. In a good way of course.
When remixing a track like Crave, the producer(s) needs to retain it’s sexy origins and make sure vocalist Giselle is still the main ‘attraction’. Adventure Club have done just that and wrapped her delicate vocals up in a stonking Dubstep mix and the work is not unlike that of a sushi chef!
This is the Dubstep I’ve got time for!

Fingers In The Noise
Dubtechno is another evolutionary strand of the extremely popular and frequently brain-numbing ‘underground’ mega-genre that is Dubstep.
This sub-genre however (or at least FITN’s productions) is something that my ears have a lot of time for, and two of his latest tracks have thrust me head first into this musical realm.
Have a listen below and see what you think and head over to his SoundCloud for more.

Chase & Status (Karetus Remix) + Video
Chase & Status are two albums deep and remain as one of the few mainstream dance acts to retain their credibility and original sound (same can’t be said for Pendulum).
Time is their latest D&B single featuring new voice Delilah and the single is gaining a lot of interest from all angles. Que the bootleg remixes currently swamping the SoundCloud and Karetus has worked his production talents and emerged with a tasty one.
