Legacy

DYM hasn’t disappointed us since we first posted his music all the way back in January.
He continues to churn out quality material from complex dubstep remixes to thoughtful originals and this latest one laments our adoration and love for (good) drum and bass.
The original from 1999 ain’t our cup of tea at all but this is solid as a rock.

Freestylers

Almost all of us can tell whether or not we like a song after the first 10 seconds and this Freestylers remix by UK-based Kouncil House had a beat and tempo that instantly chimed with us.
Let’s see whether it chimes with you.

Pendulum -- Watercolour
Sounds and looks like a Kylie Minogue video.
Awful awful awful.
First Time Treat
Stumbled upon this little mashup today which is described as his ‘first ever mashup’ and it’s really good although the Dre bit is well off the mark. Apart from that, good first try!

The guy who made it (Ninjao) used BMW’s mini-movie The Hire in his YouTube video for this mashup. I’d never heard of it before but it was a mega-budget internet film campaign way back in 2001 starring Clive Owen and some other heavy hitters including Don Cheadle.
Guy Ritchie, John Woo, Ang Lee and Tony Scott were among the directors for each short action-packed film so I’m going to spend the next hour watching them!
The first one, The Ambush, is below.

I’m not (usually) massively keen on mash-ups from an EP release but Living The Dream Records have comprised what could honestly (almost) be thrown down as an original single mix.
Combining the Radio and Single Edits with remixes from Boy 8-Bit, Logistics, Gui Boratto, Ben Hoo and James Talk, they’ve created a tasty minimal medley.
As the track progresses and merges into another, the tempo raises and it culminates in the Drum and Bass remix by Logistics.
Dandy.

If It Ain’t Broke…
I absolutely love DC Breaks. They deliver a classic Drum and Bass remix everytime which is all I want.
DC Breaks is like a Kit-Kat – they’ve got a proven formula that works and a steady stream of business so there’s no need to diversify or drastically change. If anything, they’ve gotten chunkier in the past few years and sound even better!
Swedish Erik Hassle has been given the DC treatment and it’s given the song some credit.
