DNB Tactics 007

DNB Tactics released their seventh mix and this time they’re evolving their format with the introduction of guests, and the first guest is Bristol’s Sound Tactix aka Nick Cashmore.
As I’ve said before when posting on these mixes, the tracklists are usually awash with names that I’ve never heard of but each time I’m introducing to a whole host of exciting producers and they serve as my monthly liquid drum and bass fix.
We’re old, old friends with the Tactics guys and it’s nice to see our love for Tottenham Hotspurs has made it into the intro — Arsenal fans beware!

DNB Tactics 006

The DNBTactics boys dropped the sixth in the series of what is fast becoming my favourite drum and bass fix and this one focuses on the piano-led beats that always go down well.
I haven’t heard of 80% of the acts/producers below which in this case if a good thing.
It’s an education!

LazyTalk // Mahogany Session

You might have never heard of London’s LazyTalk until today but we truly believe that you’ll start to hear a hell of a lot more of them as we move into the new year.
These are boys who despite playing the standard drums, guitars, bass and vocals – never let their passion for drum and bass fade and that’s why they’re so distinctive.
We headed down to their book shop in North London and they played two outstanding tracks that are currently doing the rounds online and the film crew were blown away!

DNB Tactics

DNB Tactics is now in it’s fifth month and therefore fifth podcast release and their mission to ‘enhance your drum and bass listening experience’ is definitely working for us.
It’s not the aggressive DnB that I’ve steadily turned away from, it’s a mix of classics and underground gems so each time their mixes drop, it’s a real eye opener for how vast the genre really is.
This mix features some gorgeous bangers and this month’s ‘Untouchable’ track is Instra:mental’s remix of Commix’ Japanese Electronics. Each release features an ‘Untouchable’ and explaining on their website, they describe it as ‘[the] tune will be the biggest, baddest, bassline that we feel fits in with the genre of the tunes from that month’.

Legacy

DYM hasn’t disappointed us since we first posted his music all the way back in January.
He continues to churn out quality material from complex dubstep remixes to thoughtful originals and this latest one laments our adoration and love for (good) drum and bass.
The original from 1999 ain’t our cup of tea at all but this is solid as a rock.

Freestylers

Almost all of us can tell whether or not we like a song after the first 10 seconds and this Freestylers remix by UK-based Kouncil House had a beat and tempo that instantly chimed with us.
Let’s see whether it chimes with you.
