We love the dub laden beats of Arther Cayzer, aka Pariah, and have done since we first heard the echoing vocal intro to his track ‘Orpheus’. Cayzer’s solo music is a beautiful hybrid of garage, techno and dub step, often with languid sad melodies and vocal loops. His 2010 Safehouses EP contained 6 cuts that were as moving to the soul as they were to the heads in the clubs. Tracks like ‘Prism’ have melancholy undertones, but you cannot help but rave to it.

Pariah – Prism
Pariah’s latest solo EP ‘Rift’ was released last month and shows him moving his sound into darker territory. The title track shows the harder edge of Pariah’s productions, with a wobbling bass drone that descends right into the pit of your stomach.
Pariah – Rift
This darker harder sound coming out in Pariah’s solo tracks, could be influenced by the music he’s been making with fellow producer and one of our picks for 2012, Blawan. Together under the moniker Karenn the two have been exploring a harder European techno sound. Their track ‘Chaste Down’ is verging on nosebleed territory – but there remains a bouncy lightness to the beats.
