Monday Digest Vol. 8

Ice-T has revealed the trailer for his upcoming feature-length documentary called ’Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap’. Delving into the very heart of rap and hip-hop and interviewing all the pioneers and heavyweights including Eminem, Kool Herc, Common and dozens more – the film should be great insight the much glamourised but often difficult and sometimes dangerous culture.

Jack Dixon’s ‘Lose Myself’ has been remixed by Dauwd and it’s a massive track. The stream has received well over 10,000 plays in the past 3 days so the online community think the same!

Jack Dixon – Lose Myself (Dauwd remix)

Female lyricist Kellee Maize last featured here via our Mahogany Minute Q&A series almost two years ago. Search Engine Optimisation has played a part in her new song and video, ‘Google Female Rapper’. The video sees her strip down to very few clothes during what looks like a rather cold day (ps – it’s safe for work).

Sweden’s Simian Ghost shot an stripped back performance from their glorious debut album ‘Youth’ via their label Heist or Hit. Their first UK tour has been come to an end but they’re returning for the Great Escape and Camden Crawl next month.

We’re going to close this Monday Digest with some classic Kasabian. They’re musical evolution hasn’t been favoured by a fairly large chunk of fans and it’s a great shame they couldn’t continue from where their debut left off. In my opinion, ‘Kasabian’ is one of the best British rock albums of my generation and Club Foot is one of the most powerful album openers ever!
