You only have to browse through the funk/soul/disco sections of your local record store to see just how many musical names came and went back in the 1970s – some enjoying one or two songs in the charts, whilst others remain popular to this day.
Candi Staton enjoyed success in the 70s with songs like ‘Young Hearts Run Free’, but it was only in the 1990s that Candi become a global name with ‘You’ve Got The Love’.
That song was subsequently covered by Florence & The Machine and since then Candi’s enjoyed a return to the music scene including extensive tours and new music (not to mention some astronomical royalty cheques).
We want to highlight Egon Elliut’s reworking today which further adds to the legacy of Candi and an all-time classic.
