The Ting Tings (Bag Raider Remix)

Posted on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Video

Not a fan of The Ting Tings one bit but I’d have Bag Raiders over for dinner any day of the week and their latest remix of the pop-duo strips away most of the vocals and focuses it’s energy on a fun, well-paced little beat.

Lovely.

Marlon Roudette // Mahogany Session

Posted on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Mahogany Sessions ©

It was a wonderfully sun-drenched (but still bloody chilly) day in West London that we met with Marlon Roudette and although we’re more than familiar with his former time in Mattafix, this was the first time we’d heard his new solo project.

European countries like Germany, Austria and Switzerland and already Marlon-mad hitting the shops and online to take his single New Age to the number 1 spot but I got the impression that he’s much more focused on the music than the chart positions.

His new EP just dropped called Riding Home featuring four tracks, one of which has Findley Quaye as a guest! Marlon incorporates his personal cultural backgrounds in his music, combing warm acoustic melodies with punchy Caribbean vibes.

Have a look and listen for yourself below!

Introducing… YADi

Posted on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Pop/Rock, Video

If you swirled the quirky vocals of Kate Bush and the rockier sound of Gwen Stefani you might end up with something that sounds a little like South London’s YADi. Pointless vocal comparisons aside – the 23-year-old South Londoner has some very strong pop songs in her arsenal and has just released her first track for download called ‘Sahara Heart’.

Other tracks like ‘Guillotine’ show a quirky synth driven pop sound. Will be really interesting to see how YADi develops…

Enna Does Covers

Posted on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Covers

Forget about Birdy and let’s focus our attention on some sweet, honest and homemade songs from Germany’s Enna.

Her personal SoundCloud page is what appears to be a hobby of sorts which is slowly turning into something more serious. Enna focuses mainly on covering songs from some of her favourite artists and below we’ve featured a few. There’s a really endearing and lovely feel to these covers, and yes, there are tons of Bon Iver covers online but that’s not a bad thing.

Using an array of tools including a guitar, omnichord, percussion, xylophone, organ and flute – she’s gradually beginning to upload original works to the web and you can hear the latest one here.

As for the tracks below, it’s not all Justin Vernon as Little Dragon are also covered and they’re all well worth a listen (plus they’re all free to download!).

Bon Iver – Michicant (Enna cover)

Bon Iver – Flume (Enna cover)

Little Dragon – Twice (Enna cover)

Brand New Leo Zero

Posted on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Disco, Electronica

Leo Zero dropped a brand new track today and the best thing of all, it’s on the house!

No reason for this – other than it’s Wednesday and I’m feeling generous!
A nice bit of chill-wave-meets-nu-boogie…. just me having some fun – or a completely calculated attempt to be fashionable – you decide. haha. x
Enjoy! Leo

It’s a top tune, sampling Grandmaster Flash’s Last Night A DJ Saved My Life throughout and in all honesty, Mr Zero doesn’t get enough credit and recognition for his musical works!
