Brand new Mumford & Sons

Posted on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Indie/Folk

A new Mumford & sons track has just leaked online.

It’s a live version of a track which has probably come from recordings of the follow up to their hugely successful debut.

Commenting on our Facebook page, Henry from Cardiff put it well when he said “[the track] sounds like every other song they’ve ever done. but that’s not really a problem.

What do you think?

Introducing… On-The-Go

Posted on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in Alternative

I’ll level with you here and say that when it comes to the Russian music landscape, I can only name former Lesbo duo t.A.T.u.

On-The-Go are a Moscow-based group who have just finished supporting Hurts on the Russian leg of their tour as well as previously warming up the crowds for the likes of  Patrick Wolf, Keane and The Horrors. Their uplifting alternative sound is this month celebrating the release of their EP, One Spark, and the track they sent over to us a real treat and just reminds me how much more music there is out there in countries that I don’t expect!

In The Mix(tape) – Downtown Party Network #2

Posted on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in In The Mix(tape) ©

The perfect setting for this Downtown Party Network mix would be a blazing hot Saturday or Sunday, during the sunset at a beach party in a tropical country – but I’ll happily settle for an inner city rooftop in East London somewhere.

The ideal drink for this mix would be a large, strong and ice cold cocktail – but I’ll easily settle for can of cider.

The Lithuanian pair have finished their guest mix for The Number 20 and it’s a sun-kissed beauty. Not too fast, yet enough tempo to get you and yours on your feet.

It’s always a pleasure when these guys release something and I highly recommend exploring their SoundCloud.

Happy Birthday to Mahogany Sessions!!

Posted on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Mahogany Sessions ©, News

Last year we decided to bring the music we adore to your eyes as well as yours ears and on 1st July 2010, we created the Mahogany Sessions channel on YouTube.

Jamie Lidell – I Wanna Be Your Telephone

Natty, one of our favourite artists to emerge over the past 5 years was the first artist to join us and within those 12 months we’ve filmed over 130 sessions, received almost 700,000 hits, gained nearly 2,000 loyal subscribers and become an Official YouTube Partner.

On the channel we’ve had the likes of Beardyman, members of Jurassic 5, Everything Everything and Eliza Doolittle play exclusive stripped back sessions whilst artists like Benjamin Francis Leftwich, David’s Lyre and Ghostpoet have been showcased here.

Maps & Atlases – Living Decorations

We’re so dedicated to both these platforms and thank you all for reading, listening and now watching what we’re doing here. Subscribers on YouTube are massively import for us so if you’re not already a subscriber, just click HERE to do so.

There’s lots more to come from both the Mahogany Blog and Sessions so stay tuned. Much love and thank you again for the support!

The Neon Lights

Posted on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Electronica

The Neon Lights have always impressed us with their production work which was first stemmed with the brilliant xx rework (Mahogany Blog’s Best Remix of 2010), and secondly with their dub-heavy edit of Adele’s Someone Like You.

It’s been four month’s since we spoke to the pair but that’s down to good reason however as they’ve just finished their first original track and it’s already gaining a lot of attention in all the right places. Xfm’s Jon Kennedy’s showcased the track as his X-posure Hot One where he described it as “…a fusion of chillwave, dubstep, folk and soul.”

It’s tight, builds really well and retains their core electronic elements throughout. I’ve got a feeling you’re gonna like it.

Paul Hardcastle vs Marvin Gaye

Posted on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Electronica, Remixes, Soul/R&B

This new Paul Hardcastle remix/mashup is absolutely gorgeous.

First heard it on the radio the other day whilst parking the car in a massive hurry. Still waited the 5 minutes for it to finish though!

Lovely stuff and you can grab it on Amazon.
