Fingers In The Noise

Posted on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Dubstep, Electronica

Dubtechno is another evolutionary strand of the extremely popular and frequently brain-numbing ‘underground’ mega-genre that is Dubstep.

This sub-genre however (or at least FITN’s productions) is something that my ears have a lot of time for, and two of his latest tracks have thrust me head first into this musical realm.

Have a listen below and see what you think and head over to his SoundCloud for more.

Fingers In The Noise – Happy Hour (Live with APC40)

Maurizio Miceli – Lollypop (Fingers In The Noise Remix)

We’ll keep an eye out for more of this, and if you know of anything tasty – drop us at a line at mahoganyblog@gmail.com.

Goldroom

Posted on Friday, June 10, 2011 in Disco

Goldroom just sent his three debut track to us and the whole thing felt like hugely warm, sun-drenched, ocean-front Californian disco kiss!

We couldn’t put it better than the small bio in the email…

Goldroom is Josh Legg’s solo effort and production alias. An amalgamation of dreamy synths, emotive vocals, and tropical disco grooves, Goldroom paints the soundscape of summertime in Los Angeles. A breezy response to the heavy, dub-laden clubs around southern California. Influenced heavily by French Touch innovators like Alan Braxe and Fred Falke, Legg has crafted an uniquely Californian take on the genre, incorporating live instrumentation and percussion with elements of downtempo disco to create something more than the sum of its parts.

Goldroom – Morgan’s Bay

Goldroom – City Girls

Goldroom – Nights in Nantes

This is Marian

Posted on Friday, June 10, 2011 in House

It’s not very often that I run up to a DJ at a bar and frantically interrput him spinning records to ask who’s currently playing (mostly because they’re behind some form of protected booth for that exact reason).

The most recent time was when I was introduced to German producer Marek Hemmann and his remix of Oliver Koletzki’s Arrow & Bow and since then an addiction formed for his deep and soulful Berlin house music.

Now he’s teamed up with long-term collaborator Fabian Reichlet on their new musical project Marian they’ve just released their 11-track debut LP, Only Our Hearts To Lose. There’s no need to describe the album however as the entire thing is available to listen to via this link and we’ve cherry picked our two favourites.

Fingers crosses they’ll take their ‘minimal pop’ project on the road.

Marian – For You

Marian – Someone
