Holy Ghost! – Wait & See
Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser aka Holy Ghost! released Wait & See, one of the stand out tracks from their debut self-titled album, as a free download for fans and just released the music video featuring their dads!
A few works from Alex explains all…”for a long time Nick and I joked that our dads should take our press photos. At some point our go-to director, Ben Fries, came up with the idea of actually making a video with them playing us and “Wait and See” seemed like the perfect song to do it for. At first both Dads were a little apprehensive – and rightfully so: My dad was appalled at the sizing options at American Apparel. But when we explained that the joke wasn’t on them – that it was actually kind of making fun of us getting older and still living like teenagers – they were game. For the record, they agree: We need to grow up.”

Introducing… Alice Wybrant
Who is Alice Wybrant?
From her adorably shy email it’s rather hard to tell but she’s a self-produced singer (studio in bathroom apparently) and she’s just made a very accomplished demo.
She did however add a little bit of info…
Alice is 17-years-old and from Yorkshire (lovely quiet countryside in the North of the UK for anyone not familiar) which is definitely not the musical capital of the world but there’s obviously some top talent up there.
To Alice – if you’re going to Uni in the next couple years, choose one in a bustling indie town like Leeds, Brighton or London and showcase your heart out throughout your course. You never know, you might get signed before you graduate!

Bravestation
Toronto’s Bravestation are about to embark on a full UK tour and after hearing their EP recently, it’s sitting pretty as Gig Priority Number 1.
They’ve been likened to Yeasayer, Arcade Fire and The National – elements of all three can be heard in the two tracks below but they’ve carved out a solidly unique sound for themselves which is why they’re also playing Evolution Festival in Newcastle this month alongside the likes of Iggy & The Stooges, Caribou and Two Door Cinema Club.
We’ve got both two tracks from the EP and links to download for free via their Bandcamp page. Both tracks are incredibly stong, well structured and have been on repeat all day. We’re also giving away the Young Edits remix of the White Wolves single.

Absynthe Minded – Envoi // Mahogany Session
Recorded at Studio Ferber, Paris and produced by Jean Lamoot (Noir Désir, Alain Bashung, Girls In Hawaii), Absynthe Minded kicks off in swing-mode with If You Don’t Go, I Don’t Go and the song sets a template for this timeless, evocative record: Multiple Choice combines subterranean shuffle, Hammond-organ snarls, talking-blues verses, and a pop-tinged chorus; Heaven Knows has a languid rhythm reminiscent of early Dire Straits (!); Dead On My Feet is an elegant indie-pop delight; Oh! The Longing is an intimate and simple piano ballad; and the epic My Heroics, Part One was actually voted “best song of the decade” by the influential Flemish radio station Studio Brussel. Envoi is an inspired-but-original interpretation of a Dutch poem by Belgian’s most celebrated writer Hugo Claus.
Absynthe Minded take their name from the legendary and dangerously addictive alcoholic spirit (the Green Fairy) that conjures up images of inspiration and the muse. That and the fact that chief songwriter Bert Ostyn is also somewhat absent-minded. At the age of eighteen, Ostyn found himself studying recording techniques in Ghent and discovering artists as diverse as Django Reinhardt and Miles Davis and it is the influence of these two visionary artists that informs Ostyn and Absynthe Minded to this day; both were eclectic and both demonstrated that anything goes and, with their blend of gypsy, jazz, folk and indie, Absynthe Minded offer everything they stood for and more.
