Mahogany Minute with Young the Giant + Remix
We grew up… in different places. Payam Sameer and I (Eric) grew up in California. Jacob grew up in the midlands, UK, and Francois grew up in Montreal, Canadaz.
Now you can find us in… Southern California. We are on the road touring most of the year but when we have time off we are in Irvine California. It is a suburb in orange county, an hour south of Los angeles. We all really love it there. The beaches are beautiful and inn and out (a hamburger fast food place) is delicious! Everyone needs to try it.
It all started when… we decided to get together in the garages and living rooms at our parents houses and try to write music together. It was about 4 years ago. Most bands sound pretty bad when they start out and we are no exception to that. it took us some time to get comfortable with writing together.
If we’re not in the studio or on stage, you’ll find us… around orange county or LA seeing shows, eating, going to the beach, and just straight relaxing to the max. we also enjoy playing fútbol. We can’t perform unless we have…some funky tunes to listen too, and good company. I personally need my guitar, amp, pedals, and a microphone.
You’ll recognise us by our… beards, and our very hairy bassist with sass.
If there’s one CD allowed on the tour bus, it would be… Dr Dre 2001. That’s mostly because things just ain’t the same for gangsters.
Our first gig together was… the vault in orange county. Where I was dreadfully out of tune. We wondered if we should continue as a band after how bad that show sounded.
We’re not really into [genre], but we do like [artist/band]… I can’t speak for everyone but I personally don’t enjoy hardcore music. When people start roaring I tend to turn the music down. Although I do enjoy a little slipknot every once in a while.
We wish we hadn’t… made fun of our sound guy so much. I think we hurt his feelings.
Our favourite festival is… we havent been to many festivals yet but Fran and Payam have been to coachella as well as a lot of our friends and they seam to love it. Later this summer we are going to play many including sasquatch, lalapalooza, reading, Leeds, java rockin’ land in Jakarta, splendor in the grass in Queensland. Hopefully we can jump on some German festivals as well!
It makes us happy when… people come to our shows and enjoy themselves. We are very lucky to have a fanbase in europe after the little time we’ve toured here. finding out that we sold out a show in a place we’ve never been is a very good feeling.
It makes us sad when… I personally cry after I have sex. It’s kinda my thang.
If there’s one thing we’ve learnt it’s…tae Kwon do. And how to find delicious food around the U.S. We also learned that chocolate in Europe is far tastier then the chocolate in the states.
If you’re new to our music, we suggest listening to Guns Out first. I think if you get our album you should listen to it from beginning to end.

Justin Faust
Munich’s Justin Faust was one of the first artists we stumbled upon when first getting settled with SoundCloud and we’re often left satisfied when a new original or remix pops up on our homepage.
Nu-disco, french-house and electro often dominate the blogs nowadays and rightfully so, with sounds like Fausts – who can blame the hype.
We’ve chosen two of our favourite remixes – the first of San Francisco’s Butterfly Bones and the second of Stockholm’s Montauk.

Agnes Obel // Mahogany Session (Exclusive Preview)
In the back streets of Baker Street in Central London, we waited patiently among some of the grandest pianos in the land for Denmark’s latest sensation, Agnes Obel.
Having been classically trained from an early age, Agnes has gained a major following with her hauntingly beautiful music and we were completely hooked after hearing her Catching Falling song a few months back.
Her piano notes ripped through the silent and crammed piano shop as she and her cellist played Smoke and Mirror for us.
One of the most important aspects of all things Mahogany is musical diversity and Agnes further cements that tradition.

The session will be going live to the world next week.
Chase & Status (Karetus Remix) + Video
Chase & Status are two albums deep and remain as one of the few mainstream dance acts to retain their credibility and original sound (same can’t be said for Pendulum).
Time is their latest D&B single featuring new voice Delilah and the single is gaining a lot of interest from all angles. Que the bootleg remixes currently swamping the SoundCloud and Karetus has worked his production talents and emerged with a tasty one.

Blackmail
It’s a timely track title for the current sporting/political news covering almost every newspaper in the UK this week. We shan’t go into any details but we have heard one thing….
Apparently Imogen Thomas is looking to start a music career. She’s been doing Giggs over all Manchester for months now.
Anyway (!) onto Silver Medallion who just put out their latest track alongside Boys Noize collaborator Dame Fifty5. The song debuts a new sound for Silver Medallion and will be featured on their upcoming upcoming indie rock mixtape.
We like it.
There’s also a music video.

He’s Still Here
When we first heard this track on PH’s SoundCloud it was in the form of a preview or simply unfinished. Whatever state it was in, he fell head over heels in love with it and waited eagerly for the full track.
The song has just been delivered with a video directed by the one of the band members and fits the song perfectly.
This is Pushing Hands’ most accomplished work to date. The music and formation sets them aside from the rest and moreover, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear this FM radio stations during the summer.
Keep an eye on these guys and check out their acoustic Mahogany Session from last summer.
The Great Escape // Mahogany Sessions (Part 1)
As promised, here are the first batch of fantastic exclusive sessions shot during the Great Escape in Brighton not long ago.
We’ve got many more coming across the next 7 days so stay tuned.
In the meantime – kick back, relax and enjoy your weekend!

In The Mix(tape) – Monarchy
Something tells me that June, July, August and September are going to be beautifully packed full of electronic originals, remixes and mixes.
Producers all over the place are starting work on their summer mixes, sure to be blasted out at bookings and festivals worldwide. I just need to make sure that I catch as many as humanly possible!
