New Wolf Gang

Posted on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Electronica, Indie/Rock, Rap/Hip-Hop, Remixes

We’ve a whopping three Wolf Gang tracks to give away this morning, comprising of two remixes and one cover. How generous.

Firstly are two remixes of his latest single, Dancing With The Devil and then a hauntingly beautiful cover of Radiohead’s Pyramid Song.

The Cocknbullkid/Mz Bratt track is bang on.

Little Comets // Mahogany Session

Posted on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in Mahogany Sessions ©

We go way back when it comes to Newcastle’s Little Comets as their video for Adultery featured here back in October 2009.

Recently they signed a major label deal with Sony’s Columbia Records but then left, quoting on their Mahogany Minute that “It was like working for a bank, but without the perks or access to people’s accounts.”

They’re going it alone now and touring in support of their debut album, In Search of Elusive, and we joined them before their headline gig at XOYO in East London for two amazing (and cheeky) acoustic renditions.

One of our favourites so far!

Monarchy – I Won’t Let Go

Posted on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in Electro/Dance, Pop/Rock, Remixes

Big thanks to Juliette for giving us a heads up to Monarchy’s latest single release.

Featuring vocals from Rokhsan, the single’s due out on Moda Music on April 11th and comes with a couple of top class remixes from the likes of Bag Raiders and Sam Tiba.

The original has more than enough clout on its own, but Bag Raiders still manage to deliver something strong and original on top.

Mahogany Minute with Nicole Atkins

Posted on Monday, March 28, 2011 in Mahogany Minute ©

I grew up… in Neptune City, New Jersey by the sea.

Now you can find me in… Brooklyn, NY by the city and the sea.

It all started when… I heard Cream’s “Wheels of Fire,” and Traffic’s “John Barleycorn Must Die”

If I’m not in the studio or on stage, you’ll find me… at a bar or someone else’s show.

I can’t perform unless I have… monitors, my floor shiners and a glass of wine.

If I could take one CD with me on holiday it would be… the Jack Nitzchie Anthology.

The one gig I’ll never forget was… Singing with My Morning Jacket on New Years Eve at Madison Square Garden!

I’m not really into electronic dance music, but I do like LCD Soundsystem.

I wish I hadn’t… sold my powder blue 56″ guild rockabilly reissue guitar for rent money back in ’03. It still haunts me.

My most treasured possession is… my 68′ hagstrom viking. That beast is tricked out!

My favourite festival is… Bonnaroo and Roskilde.

My favourite piece of clothing… these black boots I have that look like a cross between Keith Richards and Peter Pan.

It makes me happy when… I rub my feet together in the morning

It makes me sad when… I have to think about things that make me sad. Next question…

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s… the difference between shit and shinola!

If you’re new to my music, I’d suggest listening to either Vultures or The Tower.

You can buy or download my single/album now… on iTunes, Amazon or at your favorite Mom n Pop record shop. Go!

Sunlight (Phanton Bootleg)

Posted on Friday, March 25, 2011 in Electro/Dance, House, Remixes, Video

If you, like me, live in London or the UK in general – you’ll be too all too familiar with the grey skies and rainy days.

When the sun does decide to shine however, every gets elated and get’s out immediately. We don’t take it for granted and today’s Phanton remix could not have been stumbled upon at a better time.

I haven’t listened to anymore of Phanton yet because this remix has played 5 times back-to-back but judging on this serious piece of work, I’ll be investigating for the rest of the afternoon.

There have been a fair few Sunlight remixes, this one’s up there.
