In The Mix(tape) – Hermanos Inglesos

Posted on Saturday, July 3, 2010 in In The Mix(tape) ©

The last In The Mix(tape) was in March (!) so it’s about time we hosted another one and put some focus on them as we progress into the summer.

Belgian duo Hermanos Inglesos might have made a mixtape of almost purely their own content but it all seems to mesh well enough for them to get away with it – the first track and single Wanderland is a treat.

Really like this one – just in time for the weekend…

Join Us At Lounge On The Farm

Posted on Friday, July 2, 2010 in News, Video

The mother of all festivals, Glastonbury, ended last week and I still feel horrifically rough. It’s the epic size and scale of the event that has turned the week-long party into kind of personal challenge and making it back alive deserves some sort of military medal!

We’re not going to let one festival defeat us but we need something much smaller and more chilled out.

The perfect alternative begins next week and it goes by the name of Lounge on the Farm. It’s easily one of the most chilled out festivals in the UK and winner of awards including Best Line-up 2009, Best Music Festival for Foodies and Greener Festival Award for Sustainability.

Headliners this year are Hercules and Love Affair (Friday), Martha Reeves & The Vandellas (Saturday) and Toots & The Maytals (Sunday) as well as other stellar acts throughout.

The best news of all folks is that The Mahogany Sessions (our newly launched acoustic video channel) will be there throughout the weekend filming some amazing acoustic performances from some of the hottest acts!

Let us know if you’re heading down and we’ll arrange a big Mahogany beer session during DJ Yoda!

We’ll keep you posted on what we’re planning but in the meantime here are a couple of slightly smaller acts we can’t wait to see.

Sir Tom Jones

Posted on Friday, July 2, 2010 in Alternative, Jazz/Blues/Country

Tom Jones is back with a new record in which he’s put aside the loud and bravado performances, in place for it is a fantastic folky autumnal sound that will appeal to a much wider audience. After Marling and Mumford etc, the whole country has gone, well, country!

Producer Ethan Johns (Laura Marling, Kings of Leon, Ray LaMontagne) set his sights high on this track and the new album and can be heard on the banjo in this single, which Sir Tom is giving away as a free download.

Posted on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Mahogany Sessions ©, Video

So you probably read a couple of weeks ago that we’re launching a new online video channel called The Mahogany Sessions.

Featuring some incredible artists from all over the world, we’ll be filming them performing stripped back acoustic sessions at our video residency location in East London called Passing Clouds.

We’ll also be taking it on the road this summer at some of the best festivals in the UK so stay tuned for more and we’ll always add a post when we have a new video!

First up is the brilliant Natty who performed two songs exclusively for Mahogany at Passing Clouds from his latest acoustic EP.

The first song Things I’ve Done can be viewed below and stay tuned for the second song, Street Lights, next week.
