More Mashed Melodies
Been a lot of mash-ups recently so we’d thought we chuck a few more in the tub. This one gets a gold star for the bold choice of song mixes.

Sweet RAC

RAC have churned out some goodies in the past and here’s another one.
Hats off to The Temper Trap for a great debut album and incredible tour schedules for the past 24 months although I do wish I caught them live before the pre-teen world of screaming girls caught on. I can only imagine in fear the ‘atmosphere’ at one of their gigs now.
It’s a bit like Citizen Cope’s gigs nowadays – I don’t want to stand next to 600 girls screaming along to Sideways! Ever!
Here you are.

(didn’t mean to offend any women out there – but with the post title, it had to be done)
Mt Eden Dubstep Mashed Up

We’ve featured DJ E before with his mashup of The xx vs. Mims and we liked it. The original track by The xx is stunning so there’s a chance we’d even like it if Britney Spears laid her abysmal vocals all over it but nonetheless we still enjoyed DJ E’s effort and still do.
He’s just dropped us his new one and it’s a mash-up of the most popular song and post ever on Mahogany which continues to take a barrage of comments from all over the world on a daily basis. The post alone has had over 60,000k hits and is growing on an average of 500 hits per day!!
This mashup consists of Mt Eden Dubstep’s Sierra Leone and rapper Wiz Khalifa’s Say Yes and I think it’s safe to say that a fair few of you will be interested in hearing it.

Sugarcane
It’s a beautifully sunny day in London and one of the songs that dropped into our wooden inbox last night has put a swing in my step as I get ready to head to the nearest beer garden.
It’s incredibly polished (almost too much so) but Sugarcane by Chris Nathan has really nice soul roots and reminds me a little of Jamie Lidell.

Escape Velocity

I was left slightly dismayed this week. After frantically scanning through the Glastonbury line-up and not seeing The Chemical Brothers playing anywhere, I was left with an empty feeling inside. I refuse to see Fatboy Slim spin Praise You for the millionth time! Despite there being some TBA’s still on the schedule, they are further down the lists and The Chemical Brothers can’t really do surprise shows considering the amount of gear they have on stage. Fingers crossed regardless eh?
The first bit of material has officially been released via the radio and YouTube in the form of a 12 minute ditty which isn’t as a aggressive as say Saturate but it gives me a feeling like I’m hurling through the galaxy at light speed.
Excited to hear more and need to catch them live at least one more time before they go into hiding again!

Breakdown
What about a bit of dancefloor filth for a boring Thursday to get us braced for the weekend?
Breakdown are doing well for themselves at the moment – seen their name in all the right places in the past 12 months.
These tracks are all about a year old and have been sitting in my library getting dusty so no doubt a bunch of you have already heard them.
All require a decent set of headphones or speakers – crappy white ipod ones simply won’t do!
