Sleep Assistance Vol. 2

Do you need a particular set of songs to help you drift off?
I almost always need my playlist to help me drift into the land of the nod. Last year our Sleep Assistance post garnered some great recommendations from all of you and many of which have since been added to my sleep playlist.
I’ve got a one that I want to share with you and hopefully you can suggest some as well so we can all sleep a little better at night.

Rox Your Sox Off
There are almost too many young London starlets with a voice nowadays and very few manage to catch my ears because they’ve all got synths and their album covers apply far too much photoshopped neon lights for my liking.
Roxanne Tataei aka Rox is one of Rough Trade’s priorities for 2010 and I have a feeling that she’s destined for greatness. Considering RT rarely opt for a commercially pop-fused artist (Rox is however more toward modern soul) so it shows they’re taking her very seriously.
Her single, My Baby Left Me, is out on March 15th and what better way to wet the pallet than a few remixes. One of which is from Drum & Bass favourites DC Breaks.
Delicious.

Playtime Is Over
Herve’s re-work of Wiley’s upcoming single is juicy.
He seemed to have shyed away from actually rapping a few bars on his last two singles – Rolex and Take That left me hungry for more lyrical content but that’s been corrected with Never Be Your Woman.
Tasty track.

Briefly…

Got a couple of remixes that have dropped into the inbox today so I’ll quickly put them up because I absolutely love both of them.
First up…
This Passion Pit remix has got slight tints of UK garage tint to it – remix is absolutely bang on the money.

Remix aficionado Alan Wilkis does Yeasayer’s first single off the new album justice.

Friday, Come Hither
Let’s kick off the week with a couple of high quality knockers from Skream à la Rusko and Cotti featuring Doctor.
I’ve been listening to some of Rusko and Skreams original stuff and for the most part, it’s far too heavy for my liking.
These two are much more my cup of tea.
