Walter Sobcek

Posted on Friday, October 9, 2009 in Electronica, Pop/Rock

Parisian duo Walter Sobcek have just completed their album after spending some time living in sunny Los Angeles.

Prom Queen (Dana Plato) is one of the songs and the new video features the raunchy bus scene from Risky Business!

If you’re at work and checking this out then you might want to consider who sits behind your desk -- or just minimise it.

I’m going to follow up with these guys -- I love this track and I want some MP3s now!

Long live French electronica.

Remixation For The Nation

Posted on Friday, October 9, 2009 in Electro/Dance, Remixes

Gotta love a good remix and it’s probably evident by now that we like them a lot on TMB so here’s a post packed full of delicious remixes of recent.

La Roux – I’m Not Your Toy (Jack Beats Remix) – Buy from iTunes (UK)

I hate La Roux but I love Jack Beats so when this first came to my knowledge, I held back from posting it but after a while I couldn’t resist. it’s too good.

Jack Beats has made his distinctive wobble-bass productions recognisable from a mile off and in this current maelstrom of dubstep and electro – that’s something very very important.

9 minutes of Friendly Fires goodness remixed in a way that I never expected. It’s tough to even pin a genre to this remix. It’s a journey in itself which must have taken Will Skol aka Spiral Into The Storm ages create.

Boy 8-Bit – Baltic  Pine (GreenMoney Bootleg)download

Lovely little one delivered from the duo renowned for their YOYO club night.

Australian pair deliver a nice take on the wicked 2009 track.

Blow Your Face Off Much?! (Updated)

You might remember our introductory post on Dubstep producer George Lenton which featured an absurd fictional history into the young man. It was all made up because so far, he’s kept his identity to himself.

Some people think his name is an anagram to a clue about his real identity but we just know ONE thing. He makes incredibly filthy tunes that should be locked up behind bars in an underground bunker guarded by Optimus Prime and his mates.

Temper Temper

It’s taken a while but finally the boys from Melbourne are seeing a great reception to a great debut album.

The Temper Trap released Conditions back in August and have since toured ridiculously everywhere with almost no breaks whatsoever. Jim Abbiss worked with the guys on the album and his producing CV boasts the debut albums of Adele, Editors and the Arctic Monkeys!

I first heard them via the incredible remix of Science of Fear by Hervé.

I think describing their music as alternative pop is pretty accurate and Love Lost is the opening track and in my opinion, one of the best. I’ve listened to too many times but I’m not sick of it yet!

The second installment of the recently introduced Mahogany series called In The Mix(tape) is here and raising the bar even higher is New York based duo (Pretty) Girls & Lasers.

Recorded from parties in NY over the summer these guys have amassed some really special sounds and it only makes me sad that I wasn’t actually there to hear it direct!

As well as this truly great mix – we’re also celebrating the launch of their new monthly night kicking off on the 7th October at Arlo & Esme in NYC so after you listen and download this mix, and if you’re in or around New York, make sure you get down there or plan your trip for next month. For further details head over to their website.

Remixes of Yuksek, Miike Snow, Presets and James Brown all feature on this great summer styled mixtape so enjoy! We’re not going to feature the full tracklisting because it takes up too much space – you’ll just have to trust us!

Little Lion Man

MumfordSons_41

This is new single from Mumford & Sons. Little Lion Man is the first single from their promising upcoming debut Sigh No More.

It’s the perfect pop-folk track for the Autumn. They’ve been doing the rounds for a couple of years now so I don’t really consider this to be their actual debut but it’s their first catapult onto mainstream radio and TV.

Mumford & Sons -- Little Lion Man -- Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More - Little Lion Man

Job well done.
