We’re back!
After a two week break it’s time to start the daily feed of great music again. If anything it’s good to have a bit of time off and to allow for some more music to build up.
Had a scare not long ago as some of you might have seen! The blog was ‘de-activated’ for a few hours due to a technical difficulty. Due to this it’s time to adapt to our new environment – as The Mahogany Blog gets more and more popular it means we have to adjust how we do things slightly but this won’t affect anything too much! In the near future, some of our previous posts will have the download link removed from them to ensure we stay out of copyright troubles!
Back to the music now and here’s a few ‘neon’ remixes for you. LA duo Animalistics have given We Are Your Friends the Hollywood treatment and made a sunrise remix that rings all my bells.

Brand New Chase & Status
Earlier in the week I made it down to see Chase & Status at Brixton Academy and I didn’t realise how powerful some of their music really is. They delivered an epic live show and played the new single featuring regular collaborator and friend Plan B.
The new single, End Credits, will feature in the soundtrack of the new Michael Caine film ‘Harry Brown‘ which also features Plan B aka Ben Drew in a supporting role.
The film looks good from the clips in the music video but anything with Michael Caine brandishing a gun is going to be good isn’t it?
The single is available to buy from November 1st with the film following later in the month.

Alan Pownall
OK so when this first started playing I thought it was going be similar to Jason Mraz or something awfully similar but thankfully it’s extremely far from that.
Alan Pownall’s Colourful Day is so beautiful and as an album sampler it’s done a great job in getting me excited to hear the whole thing. It’s a seriously, seriously gentle song but in no means soppy or cliche.
There are definitely too many commercialised, guitar-wielding male singer/songwriters out there at the moment. Blunt, Morrison, Mraz and Powter (to name a few) make the world we live in that extra little bit more painful but people like Pownall and Josh Garrels give some glimmer of light that there still is hope.

He’s playing a string of live gigs at Pure Groove Records this month as well as a gig and the Royal Albert Hall.
Sweet Symphony
Polish duo El Barto & Liam B have put together an unsuspecting mash-up that I really, really like.
The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony and Marvin Gaye’s Ain’t That Peculiar make for a great pair. The vocals work so well with the strings and as the song builds and builds it really sounds like Marvin could have actually recorded it!
