Here we are with our second In The Spotlight feature this time with an upcoming artist from London. Rescue Cat’s new digital release, £10 Bag, speaks about 80′s computer games, childhood and heroin which sound like a lot to take on board but it’s a great song. The electronic sounds that gently come in almost out of nowhere are perfect.

Much more than just an adolescent crush, I really like Madge’s music. She’s written better songs but this but this is a favourite. I love the dirty spoken word intro. She’s such a slut and that’s how I like to remember her.

I was a b-boy back in the day. I had the Nike jacket, white gloves and the lino. This tune was a classic. I still love the Streetsounds electro albums.

Much maligned was ‘indie-dance’ but it’s still a massive influence on me. The Mondays were the best by far. They made dirty, scuzzy music and Shaun Ryder was a brilliant lyricist

I’m not a huge fan of acoustic singer-songwriters but this fella was a little bit special. A proper bad-boy folkie with the voice of an angel. Saw one of his last gigs at The Albert Hall and it was awful. Let’s remember him at his best with this beautiful song…
