Hands up who remembers and misses garage music (as long as it was good, none of that So Solid crap).

While the majority of it originated here in the UK, there were a few artists that came from across the water and one artist that was responsible for a huge garage classic was Roy Davis Jr.

Primarily a house artist, Roy put through this garage tune and every pirate radio station had it playing for years.  A few of you may still have this on cassette!

Roy Davis Jr. – Gabriel

If you have any suggestions for some classic cassette songs then drop a comment and we’ll put them up!

First time I heard this tune was on a M.A.W essential mix back in the late 90’s although they used a accapella version and slowed the tempo alot. Massive tune at the time, and still a great choon.

garage in the form taht uk claims is really todd edwards sound with most of the soul sucked out and replaced by really shitty coke. its dope dont get me wrong just tellin it like it is man.

garage house (which is what this roy davis track is) is an east coast US sound. mostly ny and nj producers pioneered this sound. if ur gonna blog about music get2know

Have to agree (albeit in a slightly gentler manner) with the prev poster. UKG, amazing though it is, was really a British appropriation of a style that originated in the US. Like all great rock/pop, I suppose, haha…

    Great tune, this.
