Something For The Weekend (or Flight)?

Massive tune!
Calvin and Dizzee should just team up for good.
After their last hit together they’ve gone off and made their own solo albums but it’s when they combine forces that the chart toppers start coming out.
This is the biggest radio track of the summer and hopefully it will cross their palms with silver as they both seriously deserve it.
I’m ready for my holiday – if anyone is going to Ibizi this summer then make it known by a comment!
Dizzee Rascal – Holiday ft. Chrome (prod. by Calvin Harris)
Apologies for the abrupt ending – it’s barely on the radio yet!
Don’t Be A P.E.S.T!

Right then P.E.S.T have just completed their remixed rendition of Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) and I feel like I’ve just got off the plane in Ibiza. However I’m in still bloody Hammersmith.
Euphoric is making it’s way back into the mainstream or did it never leave? The new Dizzee Rascal track ‘Holiday’ is as europhic as you can get so the sound is here to stay in the mainstream.
Luckily this is underground so there’s a spicier taste to it and I love it.

Information is minimal about P.E.S.T at the moment but I’m definitely going to be putting up anything more I find from these guys.
PRDCTV

A fair amount of aspiring artists and bands send their music through to Mahogany Blog and we do try to get as many of them featured as possible – one man inparticular recently sent through his music and it instantly clicked with me.
A few words to desribe it: Ambitious, Experimental, Brave and Textured.
Since PRDCTV (aka Alex Lloyd) sent me his music it’s been heavily featured on Xfm’s Xposure shows and it looks like all his hard work has paid off. It truly is a beautiful piece of music.
I have no expertise is music production but I can hear how layered this music is with different sounds and textures so it must have taken Alex a hell of a long time to get it right.

This kind of music should inspire those who think they have to sing when they make music. Take the vocal obligation away and the music takes completely different forms.
We only put one track up for download so don’t forget to check out PRDCTV on Geometric Records and buy buy buy!
Crash Music

If you love a good movie then you’ve probably seen Crash (2004) which I found incredible – the Score by Mark Isham was equally as impressive and the Arabic vocals for this particular song settled perfectly for a film that highlighted so much prejudice in the Western world.
This is the song during the dramatic car rescue scene with Matt Dillon and Thandie Newton.
Looking forward to watching this film again.
Mark Isham – Flames
If you haven’t already seen it, go get it! Here’s the trailer.
White Lies – Death (Chase & Status Remix)

Chase & Status have taken this White Lies track and given it the treatment that I need.
It’s my new ‘Step-Out-The-Door-To-Work’ track.
This remix is sick so feel free to drop a comment if you’re going to walk to work with it!

Back In The Game!

Hello Hello Hello!
Christ there’s been a big gap since the last Mahogany Blog but with good reason. It was by far the best Glastonbury festival for years and we were at the front line soaking up the sun and the alcohol.
Saw some incredible sets but to be honest, each year I’m taken back by the sights and sounds away from the music stages.
The most touching set of the entire festival was Bon Iver who headlined the intimate Park Stage – it had me in tears and I had to actually get up and stand nearby!
I don’t have the Park set unfortunately (I’m working on it!) but here’s a lovely 25 minute set from his SXSW performance.

Many more songs coming up over the next couple of days to make up for the break!
Hope you’re all well.
