RMXS THT WLL FCK DNCFLRS

When I first heard this I got a big shiver up the back of my neck. It’s none other than the epic remix by A1 Bassline of Little Boots’ New In Town. Epic – the detail and effort in this gives it more credit than the original in my eyes!
I’ve barely paid any attention to Little Boots since she gained the industry’s eye – To be perfectly honest, I don’t know if I can be bothered at the moment – Right now I prefer to experience the version a master like A1 Bassline has delivered. He must be chuffed!

Heartbreaker is already one of the stronger mainstream singles of the year and this remix makes me want to join a vigilante group and head into the South American jungle looking for Predator.
Laidback Luke’s behind this audacious electronic melee – be advised though, this can’t be properly appreciated if listened to through small laptop speakers or dainty headphones. You need to plug this into something slightly scary.

Jive & Swing With Deekline & Wizard

The video for this great new track from Deekline & Wizard should put shame to dancefloors across the world – nowadays your average boozer is strewn with sweaty battered blokes and pissed women falling all over the place. If anyone were to attempt some of the moves pulled off by our Grandparents in the legendary Swing clubs, they would no doubt leave in a wheelchair. Anyway the great editing work results in a great video for a seriously good tune.
Deekline & Wizard are hot of their new album titled ‘Back Up, Coming Through’ and this is the first track making headways for them in all the right places.
Not familiar with these guys? They’ve got a producing resume that would rival an entire record label and DJ Deekline was responsible for the garage smash ”I Don’t Smoke The Reefer’!
The single, Bounce & Rebound, and their remixes including one from Bassnectar and Beat Assassins are available from Beatport and are well worth the purchase!
Bassnectar – Land Of The Lupes

Lupe Fiasco is a rap favourite on The Mahogany Blog.
He’s ultimately one of the freshest breaths of fresh air in the rap game for a long, long time and I can’t wait for his new release. Until then we rely on the experts to rework his current music as they see fit.
This rework dropped into my inbox earlier in the week and I’m instantly in love with it.
The legendary Bassnectar has twiddled, tweaked, fiddled and played with an acapella of Kick Push and produced Land Of The Lupes.
He told us a little bit about the mix.
“I took the beat of a long-overdue unreleased tune called “Stretch Reflex” and melted it together with the synths and melodies from another song that was supposed to be on Underground Communication, but ended up getting saved for later. It was written as a pensive homage to the dead, the original melodics sound like a black metal song but in this version they have kind of a nice 1990’s Orb or FSOL feel to them…that sound will never get old for me! Then i took some of the prettier melodies from that song and mixed them with a Lupe Fiasco acapella (i looooove his voice) and it became one of my favorite tunes to close a party with.”

Girls And Boys In Love

One of Radio 1′s most cherished DJ’s is deeply respected for his championing of great music – almost three years ago Rob Da Bank had this David E. Sugar mix spinning regularly and I’ve just seen it hiding in my music collection.
The Rumble Strips’ piano-led single was no Mercury Prize winning record but it’s definitely good ol’ fashioned fun.
We need more fun and less seriousness at the moment – a lot of artists are trying too hard to be edgy and original and they’re bombing hard.

Nujax City!

Nujax hail from Montreal and have recently sent me some DIRTY tracks.
After setting up a legendary club night in Montreal called Sextape Fridays – the duo decided to start testing their beats on their loyal following and have now got a couple of delicious bassline tunes fresh from the sweaty dancefloor.
After a bit of investigation – the club night is actually huge – held in a motel somewhere in the city it looks like a trip to Canada is due.

Sleep Assistance

Nowadays a carefully selected iTunes playlist is to thank for getting me to sleep.
No longer can I rely on silence to nod off, instead some incredibly slow and relaxing songs at a very low level help in sending me to the clouds. It’s a little like counting sheep now but replace sheep with songs and see how many you can last.
The first song in my sleep playlist is from the album Plans by Death Cab For Cutie.

Amsterdam Acoustics

Idyllic settings and promising new bands made a couple of dutch guys create Amsterdam Acoustics.
It’s simple – grab a band during their sleazy trip to Amsterdam and manage to get them to perform a few songs in between brothel and coffee house. Apologies – that was distasteful.
The XX are the first band to catch my eye here but I’m definitely going to be checking back to see who else they grab.
Lots of big names play the Paradiso every month so as long as they’ve got the hook up, we’ll be seeing Amsterdam Acoustics join ranks with The Black Cab Sessions in London.

Pryda – Melo
If I started reading an Eric Prydz post on a blog then there’s a good chance I’d uninstall Firefox and throw my Macbook out the window. I can’t stand the commercial radio designed dance tracks he’s churned out but when I first heard his alternative musical identity under the name of Pryda, I was interested.
Melo is one of the strongest tracks he’s put out under Pryda.
Verdict: Much better than Eric Prydz.
Deadmau5 – I Remember (Caspa Remix)
Right now you can’t talk about house music without referencing the man of the hour Deadmau5.
If you’ve heard the recent radio version of Ghosts N Stuff then like me, you might gasp in shock at how shit it is. I know he wants to up his profile and gain some media spotlight but don’t sacrifice you’re best tune. And don’t make it sound like a Pendulum track either.
So let’s smooth the edges by wrapping some dubstep around another radio designed track.
