Bat For Lashes & Tara Busch

I already loved Bat For Lashes for her debut album and tunes such as Prescilla and Sarah, but I’ve become even more obsessed since the sweet and spiritual lady from Brighton released Two Suns a few weeks ago.
I recently came across a very good remix of the song Daniel made by Tara Busch, the voice (or pen) behind AnalogSuicide and a most talented musician. It’s pretty simple: her remix made me feel like I was strolling through a forest on a sunny day with Natasha Khan whispering in my ear -- not the most disagreeable feeling indeed. String and flutes give the song a classical touch without hiding the electro side away. J’adore.
To listen to it, all you need to do is sign up on Bat For Lashes’ website (it takes, like, 17 seconds) and you’ll receive this weekend ear-candy straight into your email inbox.
Oh, and lovely Tara (and her amazing glasses) posted videos on her blog explaining her magic recipe for the remix -- check out the first one below.
Enjoy!

I Am…Remixed

Ok so if you’re a frequent of blogs and an admirer of dubstep you may well have heard of Nero – the most promising newcomers to the scene hailing from the UK.
They’ve delivered some dirty remixes recently including the massive switch-up of The Streets’ Blinded By The Lights which gianed some mad popularity on Hype Machine and it’s clear they’re here to stay and now things only get better as the duo are making it clear that dubstep isn’t their only talent.
OK DAC is another project headed up by the pair and they were recently commissioned by one of the biggest stars in the world to see what they could do with one of her songs.
Beyonce’s track Ego is a pretty average and chilled R&B track from her album I Am…Sasha Fierce but OK DAC have made one of the best remixes of the year.
This track is seriously hot – you’ll truly appreciate it when you’ve got some big speakers though because the bass lines are heavy.

Emil & Friends

I’m loving this new release from Emil and his friends. Downed Economy packs a great original and some equally good remixes.
DAN OH (pictured), Beaumont and Mr. Vega all lend their talents to the single and it’s given it a complete 360 package which is what singles should do.
I don’t know much about Emil & Friends to be honest – I like what I hear – which is the only important part right now.
Enjoy.

Well It Moves Me!

This band know how to make great music.
Peter Bjorn and John have shrugged off the catchy whistling Young Folks song that so nearly musically typecast them and have delivered a great follow up album.
It Don’t Move Me is the song that’s stood out for me and I think you’ll all love it.

Passionate About Passion Pit

These unsuspecting Harvard-looking gents have been added to my Best Albums of 2009 list so let’s listen to two of my favourite tracks from their debut.
The album has been in and out of the car stereo frequently and after the third time round it clicked with me and now I love it.
A lot of people riding shotgun complained of the high-pitched camp vocals – I dropped them off at the next bus stop and dashed £1.50 out my window.
It’s nice to hear such light hearted electro-folk.
