The Cassette Years Vol. 1

There’s nothing better than to reminisce on quality old school hip-hop and I’m proud to introduce a new editorial spot. The Cassette Years will feature the best in classic cassette music of all genres and become a regular feature to TMB.

In the digital storm, some of the best music can be lost in the huge ocean of availability and choice but we’re going to turn the clocks back and jog your memories.

Both The Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief hail from California and came out in the early nineties during the Tupac and Biggie era but there’s something significantly different about this rap music. It’s gentle, easy, relaxing and makes the darkest areas of LA seem inviting (not going pack my bags and go to South Central though).
