TLGB aka The Living Graham Bond has cooked up this bass heavy remix of the Jack Peñate pop-crossover single Tonight’s Today and it’s by far my favourite.

All I know about TLGB is that he lives in London, he likes basslines and his name is Graham and to be honest that’s all I wanted to know.

Perfect remix of a summer-time tune for the upcoming weekend!

Rabbit Heart Remixed

OK so lets ignore the fact that I took this from the radio for you – this remix is amazing.

Remixes have featured on single releases for ages now but as electronic music (in all forms) is becoming more and more popular with all walks of life it seems the remixes can be as important as the single.

La Roux’s In For The Kill single is the best example for this – Skream killed that track and it blew the original far out the water.

This remix doesn’t top the original but it’s so nice to hear it in different forms before the song is even out.

We were the first blog to break the Rabbit Heart single and again we’re the first blog to break this remix – don’t forget to check back soon!

After working at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London for over 2 years there were hundreds of gigs from artists both amazing and absolutely awful.

Muse, John Butler Trio and Imogen Heap were among the most notable sets that I watched from the bar as well as José González who blew the entire audience away with his acoustic show.

I was lucky enough to see him twice. Once a headline show supported by Fink and the other as a guest with Zero 7 & Sia.

From his name you’d think José was a Mexican milkman but he was born in Sweden to Argentinian parents. Funnily enough the first bands that he started out with were hardcore punk outfits and now he has some of the softest guitar music in the industry. Big contrast.

Marina & The Diamonds

There’s been a sudden surge of strong independent women with incredible voices and equally impressive music recently. Thankfully they’re all a little bit more interesting than the mainstream girlies like Duffy and Adele.

I was suprised to see how naughty some of her MySpace pictures were! I had to minimise my browser in case my boss saw what I was looking at. Check it out for yourself.

Anyway she’s a very pretty girl from Wales with a lovely voice, a little similar to Feist but unique all the same.

Little Boots, St. Vincent, Florence & The Machine and now Marina. Who’s next??

Dousk – Show Me Wild

Only now are iTunes radio stations being fully appreciated in my life. Endless tunes without the cocky DJ or painful adverts and all from the comfort of my Macbook.

I’ve listened to hours and hours of radio, mostly the electro and dubstep ones, quickly scribbling down the best songs and searching rapidly online for an MP3.

Stumbling across Dousk was the diamond in the rough.

When I first heard it I thought it might have been done by Benny Benassi if you’ve heard his most recent album – check out the Benny post and decide if there’s a similarity or not.

Let’s shine some light on some unsigned goodness all the way from California.

19 year old laZEBRA is cooking up some very promising beats and remixes from his dorm room at CSULB and if he keeps going the way he’s going the dorm room will soon be completely replaced with a studio.

There’s no doubt that for a while the States were very quiet when it came to electro but now we’re seeing more and more emerge.

The Mahogany Blog’s new section, Artist Playlists (launching soon), will feature laZEBRA’s specially selected tracks so check back soon for it!

Nobody Don’t Dance No More!

Posted on Friday, May 22, 2009 in Rap/Hip-Hop

image001Remember when Kano released this track on his Home Sweet Home album and we all thought it would be a nice classic garage track and suddenly it switched to some grime track. Everyone was gutted but thankfully he released the full tune as a single a little while later.

UK rappers have a heard time in any country, especially the UK so it’s hats off to Kano for a couple of impressive albums that a lot of people got their hands on.

Haven’t heard these two in ages.

This is definitely one of the best music videos ever!

Very much in the style of The BPA’s classic video from this year however the ageing body of Norman Cook is replaced with some stunning women.

So to break it down beautiful naked girls walk through busy city streets with pedestrians looking on in shock – I do wish I was there to witness such a sight!

Oh yeah and there’s a song in the background.
