True Romance?

Congratulations Carli (manager for Golden Silvers) -- You’ve found a truly original band that have recently signed to XL Recordings.
The album isn’t out yet but I was sent a copy -- it’s a great little record.
The new single True Romance (True No.9 Blues) is on my list for best tracks of 2009 already!

Jack Peñate – Tonight’s Today

The new single is just about to be released officially although it’s been around for months -- the main reason I posted this up is because of the video directed by Alma Har’el.
The video is bizarre but incredibly artistic -- I wonder how Jack reacted when he was told he had to kiss a guy!
The album is being produced by legend Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Florence & The Machine and The Rakes to name but a few) who also produced Tonight’s Today.
His first album was great during the huge Indie music rush but if he did that again it would bomb -- he’s changed his game up, taken influences from dubstep/reggae and I can’t wait to hear the album.

Casiokids

Norway have given us Röyksopp and we’re grateful – They’ve also given us Madcon who we won’t discuss anywhere near this blog but now a new force is emerging in the form of Casiokids.
This 9-Piece troop are making some serious waves in the industry – It’s hard to describe their style, you’re going to have to investigate yourself.
A&R from Moshi Moshi Records need some major awards for the bands they pick up from time to time – shame they all leave after the first release.
Here’s the single – it’s too good.
Casiokids – Verdens Storste Land
Casiokids – Fot i Hose
Jay-Z – American Boy (Live at Glastonbury)
Unforgettable show -- Best Rapper Alive?
Aeroplanes, Paris, Skeletons and Lykke Li!

We’ve gathered some great remixes of Friendly Fires that you may or may not have heard before – regardless I think they need to be on the blog for the sake of good music.
I don’t think the boys from St. Albans expected to be received so well – 2009 will be very special year for them – Last year they played all the major festivals but not at any great time and not too the biggest audiences either. This year they’re going to be playing the night spots on the hottest stages and I’ll be there for every single one.
I know bands don’t often play their remixes live on stage but can someone persuade them to get Au Revoir Simone on stage for a collaboration?!
Friendly Fires – Skeleton Boy (Air France Remix)
Friendly Fires – Paris (Aeroplane Remix ft. Au Revoir Simone)

Calvin Harris – I’m Not Alone Remixes

First up is Deadmau5 who wraps his epic euphoric house sounds over this already stonking tune.
It’s less ravey davey than the original but Deadmau5 has nailed it and the track is a nice and timely 8 minutes.
There’s a spring of Daft Punk about a third of the way through – hear it?
Calvin Harris – I’m Not Alone (Deadmau5 Remix)
Secondly is the man of the hour Herve who converts the track into a bassline mashup – It’s good but drags off from the original song slightly.
