True Romance?

Congratulations Carli (manager for Golden Silvers) – You’ve found a truly original band that have recently signed to XL Recordings.
The album isn’t out yet but I was sent a copy – it’s a great little record.
The new single True Romance (True No.9 Blues) is on my list for best tracks of 2009 already!

Jack Peñate – Tonight’s Today

The new single is just about to be released officially although it’s been around for months – the main reason I posted this up is because of the video directed by Alma Har’el.
The video is bizarre but incredibly artistic – I wonder how Jack reacted when he was told he had to kiss a guy!
The album is being produced by legend Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Florence & The Machine and The Rakes to name but a few) who also produced Tonight’s Today.
His first album was great during the huge Indie music rush but if he did that again it would bomb – he’s changed his game up, taken influences from dubstep/reggae and I can’t wait to hear the album.

Casiokids

Norway have given us Röyksopp and we’re grateful – They’ve also given us Madcon who we won’t discuss anywhere near this blog but now a new force is emerging in the form of Casiokids.
This 9-Piece troop are making some serious waves in the industry – It’s hard to describe their style, you’re going to have to investigate yourself.
A&R from Moshi Moshi Records need some major awards for the bands they pick up from time to time – shame they all leave after the first release.
Here’s the single – it’s too good.
Casiokids – Verdens Storste Land
Casiokids – Fot i Hose
Jay-Z – American Boy (Live at Glastonbury)
Unforgettable show – Best Rapper Alive?
Sugar Rush Beat Company – Love Breed (Danny Bryd Mix)
Got this track from NewMixes – It’s the Annie Mac Drum and Bass special which is well worth a download.
Apologies for the lack of an mp3 – Can’t find it anywhere!
Frankmusik – Three Little Words (Acoustic session)

Our friends at LondonKicks interviewed Frankmusik last year before he was signed to Universal and he performed Three Little Words with just his piano.
Vince ‘Frankmusik’ Frank is seriously talented – which is way Universal signed him for a 5 album deal!
Producer, DJ, Singer, Songwriter and Video Director – he’s definitely going places this year. One problem here is Universal have so far tagged him as a bit of a childish pop act which he definitely isn’t.
Flick past the interview as the song starts 3.30 mins into the video.

Ones to watch in 2009 – Casiokids

Already posted about Norweigen Casiokids here but I just wanted to reiterate how good I think they are.
After going down to the Clash Music night at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen last week to see them play live I was totally blown away.
Quirky, camp, pop-infused music with clear inspiration from electro and dubstep.
Moshi Moshi signed them in the UK (they have a seriously solid A&R team) and they’re one of the only bands that sing in their native language and it’s still great!
Esser – Work It Out

Nice little pop nugget with strange sounds from a strange musician.
You might have caught Esser whilst he was touring with Foals and The Mystery Jets last year.
